The Amergis Division is currently seeking highly skilled Teacher's Aide (Special Education Department) in West Lake Hills, TX needed!

The School Aide is an individual who works with students requiring instructional, and/or behavioral assistance under the supervision of the special education department and/or supervising designee. The School Aide may also provide support services to assist students with personal, physical mobility and therapeutic care needs, as established by a rehabilitation health practitioner, social worker or other health care professional.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follows through with IEP objectives including math, reading, speech, independent skills, and managing behavioral deficits and excesses, one on one or as a general classroom aide

  • Facilitates teacher-directed learning activities including lesson plans, worksheets, reinforcement systems, small groups, social games, and work assistance

  • Assists students when included in general education classes

  • Communicates pertinent information to teachers

  • Accompanies students during recess and lunch periods, along with community experiences

  • Strictly adheres to confidentiality requirements regarding all matters pertaining to students, parents, parent communications, and/or classroom activities. (Note: Unless instructed otherwise by supervising teacher, all parent communication is the responsibility of certified personnel)

  • Assists with activities of prescribed programs including those written by related service personnel such as PT, OT and SLP

  • Assists students in the development of independent skills through self-care activities such as toileting, clothing routines, feeding and personal hygiene

  • May be asked to assist in behavior management techniques at the direction of the teacher and/or other school professional (i.e. BCBA, Psychologist, etc.)

  • Assists teacher with clerical duties including making stimuli, making copies, maintaining a clean and organized classroom, preparing materials, and assignment scoring

  • Assists with transfers and ambulation

  • Appropriately reports changes in client status or as directed by IHP/IEP

Minimum Requirements:

  • Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice

  • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable

  • Current CPR if applicable

  • TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)

  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site

  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements

  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required

  • Computer proficiency required

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

Around 10 students or less

Day to Day Duties:

  • Traditional Sped Para/TA/Aide role; NOT 1:1, they will be functioning within the classroom

    -Follows lead and direction from the classroom teacher

August 14th – May 23rd

Candidates will be required to do a virtual or in-person interview with their recruiter and pass before being moved from "present to sub" / sent to the client to interview virtually

-if they don't have a TEA certification, they will have to do 2 sets of prints so that the district can get them a cert through TEA!

Compensation:

*Total Package = $720wk $18hr X 40wkly/hrs = $720wk

· Weekly Taxable Income: $720.00wk

*Based upon qualifying for position and allowances. Total package is inclusive of taxable wages and allowances.
