Amergis RN Critical Care in Baltimore, Maryland
The Critical Care Registered Nurse assumesresponsibility and accountability for applying the nursing process and deliveryof patient care in the ICU. The Registered Nurse consistently performsaccording to nursing standards and is accountable for managing patient carepost-operatively and assisting others in the management of patients as theycome out of anesthesia.
EssentialDuties and Responsibilities:
Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care
Performs focused interview to identify specific patient’s needs
Assesses signs and symptoms indicating physiologic and psychosocial changes in the patient’s condition
Collects, analyzes, and interprets data and information from health care members and documents actual and/or potential nursing diagnoses
Plans for expected outcomes of care for those patients assigned
Closely observes patients for signs of side effects of anesthesia medication
Treats pain, nausea, and other post-operative symptoms of anesthesia
Communicates nursing interventions, expected outcomes, and the time frames for expected completion, to other members of the hospital health care team
Functions as a resource to the health care team members in planning for patient’s discharge
Documents the patient’s plan of care using identified nursing diagnoses, expected patient outcomes, and selected nursing interventions
Identifies and prioritizes actions based upon patient care requirements
Performs interventions according to identified priorities, plan of care, and the hospital policies and patient care outcome standard
Provides a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment
Initiates and evaluates patient and/or family education
Compares expected and actual outcomes of care and identifies deviation from the plan of care
Performs other duties as assigned/necessary
MinimumRequirements:
Current Registered Nurse License for the state in which the nurse practices
2 years of ICU experience preferred
ACLS may be required per state/contract
Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable
Current CPR if applicable
TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required
Computer proficiency required
Must be at least 18 years of age
