Amergis Pharmacy Supervisor in Chicago, Illinois
The Pharmacy Services Specialist is responsible for theoverall coordination and processing of new patient medication orders andreorders. Responsibilities includeverifying insurance benefits; translating and entering new or refillprescriptions into the pharmacy information system; communicating andcollecting co-pay amounts; obtaining authorizations and reauthorizations; andscreening, identifying, resolving or deferring orders that have accountsreceivable or clinical problems. ThePharmacy Services Specialist will work with both internal and externalcustomers to ensure that orders are processed in a timely manner and meet allfinancial and clinical requirements prior to fulfillment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manages inbound calls and makes outbound calls related tosetting up specialty medication orders working with medical providers,customers, and other pharmacy staff to ensure patients receive their specialtymedication in a timely manner
Enters prescriptions into pharmacy information system
Communicates and collects co-payments
Works with both internal and external customers to ensurethat orders are processed in a timely manner; with a strong emphasis oncustomer service
Performs other duties as assigned/necessary
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Pharmacy Technician training or experience is preferred
Knowledge of Medical Terminology is preferred
Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice
Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency programwhen applicable
Current CPR if applicable
TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)
Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site
Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements
Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required
Computer proficiency required
Must be at least 18 years of age
