Amergis RN Cath Lab - Houston TX - $3k/wk - 4x10hr shifts/wk in Houston, Texas
The RN (Cath Lab or Cardiac Cath Lab) specializes in workingwith patients undergoing cardiac procedures in a catheterization lab. During cardiac catheterizations, thesespecially trained nurses assist the medical team by monitoring the patient’svitals, assisting with procedural sedatives, assisting doctors, technicians,nurses and the patients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Administers patient medications
Assists in diagnostic procedures and interventionalprocedures
Circulates and scrub during cardiac catheterization andelectrophysiology procedures
Responsible for discharge teaching with patients and familiesincluding procedural, medications, activities, care of the surgical site andlifestyle/dietary changes
Ensures consent paperwork is accurately completed
Performs examination of the patient pre andpost-catheterization
Manages administrative aspects of cardiac catheterizationand electrophysiology patients
Monitors and documents patient vital signs
Monitors for signs and symptoms of infections or sideeffects of the procedure
Monitors patient sedation levels during and after theprocedure
Prepares patients for procedures
Minimum Requirements:
Registered Nurse with a current state license where theywill be working
ACLS may be required by state/client contract
Minimum of 2 years critical care or Cardiac Cath Labexperience preferred
Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice
Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency programwhen applicable
Current CPR if applicable
TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)
Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site
Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements
Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required
Computer proficiency required
Must be at least 18 years of age
Length: 13 weeks, with the possibility of extension
Shift: 40 hours a week, ( 4 x 10’s)
Total Travel Package Gross weekly: $3,001/wk
Untaxed Housing Stipend: $673/wk
Untaxed Food Stipend: $448/wk
Hourly Earnings: $47/hr x 40hrs= $1880/wk
Special skills or experience needed:
Cardiac Cath Lab experience
EP trained – hemodynamics
EP Studies
3+ years of RN experience
RN license to practice in the State of Texas
BLS through American Heart Association (AHA)
Equipment used:
Mechanical ventilator
IABP
Impella
Implants
EP Ablation
Call requirements for the Cath Lab RN Position:
The call currently is eight days in a five-week period which includes one full weekend (Friday-Sunday) but worst-case scenario is 10-14 days.
There is call for the Cath/EP lab. Call starts once the last case is completed. The employee must respond to the call within 30-35 minutes. They must live close by. There is a requirement to wear lead as much as 20 pounds for 10-12 hours per day.
Start date: HCSS virtual orientation June 27th with in-person Epic training in Galveston, TX on June 28th - RN will start on the floor once all required education/training is complete.
