Position Title: MS/Tele Registered Nurse

Position Description: 3 South – Tele 3x12 Self Scheduling EOW Average Daily Census – 26 Beds – 30 Ratio – 1:5 Patient Population – HF CP DM Any cardiac renal GI respiratory COPD Sickle cell ETOH CVA Sepsis Pneumothorax AKI Hypoxia SBO HTN Requirements – RN License BLS 1 Year of experience will take 1st time travelers Shift Info: Night 3x12-Hour 19:00 - 07:00

As a professional practitioner, the RN - Telemetry assumesthe responsibility and accountability for delivery of patient care of telemetrypatients. The RN – Telemetry demonstrates the ability to make clinicaljudgments in an effective and efficient manner, with supervision. The RN - Telemetry exhibits critical thinkingand performance ability in the coordination of patient care, and consistentlyperforms according to nursing standards while remaining accountable forproviding patient care and assisting others in the management of patient care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, andevaluate patient care on telemetry unit

  • Performs focused interview to identify specific patientneeds

  • Assesses signs and symptoms indicating physiologic andpsychosocial changes in the patient’s condition

  • Monitors EKG output and keeps doctors informed of anychanges

  • Records vital signs, including oxygen levels, bloodpressure, breathing patterns, etc.

  • Monitors patient progress and updates patient medicalrecords as needed

  • Responds to patients experiencing cardiac pain

  • Performs various diagnostic tests

  • Manages and administers medication

  • Monitors and uses the electrocardiogram, EKG, or ECG

  • Educates patients on cardiac health and communicates withpatient’s family when applicable

  • Administers tests, analyzes lab results, and reports them tothe physician

  • Documents the patient’s plan of care using identifiednursing diagnoses, expected patient outcomes, and selected nursinginterventions

  • Identifies and prioritizes actions based upon patient carerequirements

  • Performs interventions according to identified priorities,plan of care, and the hospital policies and patient care outcome standard

  • Provides a safe, comfortable and therapeutic patientenvironment

  • Revises the plan of care according to evaluation, changes inmedical plan of care, effective/ineffective nursing interventions

  • Documents patient’s response to nursing and otherinterventions

  • Uses clinical judgment in evaluation activities to meetpatient care needs of an assigned unit/floor including established priorities

  • Monitors safety and effectiveness of the environment andequipment

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current Registered Nurse license for the state in which thenurse practices

  • One year experience in Telemetry Preferred

  • Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice

  • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency programwhen applicable

  • Current CPR if applicable

  • TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

  • Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)

  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site

  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements

  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required

  • Computer proficiency required

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
