Amergis Travel - Contract - RN - Pediatric ER - Norfolk, VA in Norfolk, Virginia

Amergis Staffing is currently seeking highly skilled tenured Pediatric ER RN for an assignment in Norfolk, VA.

Six RNs for 12hr Day and MidShifts!

Duration: 13-weeks + Contract extensions

Start Date: ASAP

Shift: 12 hour shifts (Days or Mids) 36 or 48hr Weeks

Location: Norfolk, VA 23507

We will need a total of 6 strong pediatric Emergency Room nurses for a ASAP START . She/He should have at least 3 years’ experience in the ED . These nurses must be able to work in a fast paced high acuity emergency room. They must be able to care for the growing needs of mental health patients that are now common in most Emergency rooms. The nurse must also be available to work a 12 hour day shift and mid shifts from 1p- 1a or 3p -3a schedule and every other weekend and be willing to work the entire holiday. The traveler must embrace a flexible schedule. The hours are 36 hours and be willing to work 48 hours as needed. They should already have ACLS, PALS and be willing to receive their CPI certifications.

The Pediatric Registered Nurse must be kind, compassionate, and caring towards children. The Pediatric Registered Nurse must have a broad knowledge of emergency pediatric nursing care and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The Pediatric RN assumes responsibility and accountability for the application of nursing processes and the delivery of patient care in the emergency setting as well as effectively communicates with the patient’s family and multidisciplinary team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care

  • Evaluates children and provides emergency care

  • Identifies changes in children's symptoms and intervene quickly and safely

  • Participates in pain management for children

  • Administers medication including oral, intramuscular, rectal, and intravenously

  • Performs venipuncture for blood draw and starts IV in children, toddlers, and infants

  • Monitors temperature, pulse, breathing, blood pressure and documents appropriately

  • Evaluates children for signs and symptoms of abuse and report to proper authorities

  • Provides supportive care to dying children and their families

  • Deals with the anxieties and demands of parents, and help families deal with their child's illness or injury

  • Remains up to date on the latest developments, rules and regulations, drug therapies, equipment, and treatment procedures in pediatric nursing

  • Uses clinical judgment to manage delivery of patient care safely and effectively

  • Communicates effectively to obtain a thorough medical history

  • Provides empathetic care and has the ability to relate to children

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current Registered Nurse License with in the state of practice

  • Minimum of one year pediatric emergency room experience preferred

  • Pediatric experience required

  • Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice

  • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable

  • Current CPR if applicable

  • TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)

  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site

  • Understands patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements

  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required

  • Computer proficiency required

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
